A "Bicolor" filler so that this washing machine never runs out of detergent

A manufacturer of high-end household appliances has developed an automatic detergent dosing system for some of its washing machines.

Context

A manufacturer of high-end household appliances has developed an automatic detergent dosing system for some of its washing machines.

This system consists of a compartment located at the bottom of the appliance into which two tanks of detergent (1.4 liters each) can be inserted: Phase 1 (classic detergent for 37 wash cycles) and Phase 2 (bleaching detergent for 50 wash cycles). These two tanks only work together and are supplied with the device. Unlike a detergent that does not contain a bleaching agent, the simultaneous use of these two tanks makes it possible to clean white and colored laundry without changing the detergent or degrading the textile.

According to the manufacturer, this system would save up to 30% of detergent compared to a conventional washing machine.

“ Thanks to a subscription, consumers never runs out of detergent. They receive a box of detergent at home that includes 3 refills of Phase 1 and 2 of Phase 2. “

Challenges

Providing the contract packer with a filling system that allows both phases to be filled at the same time on the same machine but in different proportions, thus facilitating end-of-line cardboard boxing.

Another challenge is the implementation of a complex proprietary closure system requiring various capping operations.

The solution

Filling:
The chosen solution consists of a filling machine equipped with a two-compartment tank allowing the two phases of the detergent to be filled in a pre-programmed sequence.

Capping:
A brushless capper inserts a valve in the orifice of the refill and then performs a very fast screwing, which heats the plastic and seals the valve to the container. An aluminum foil is then heat-sealed on the whole.

“ With this double-compartment product tank, the contract packer can bottle all kinds of products, from liquids to viscous, on a single machine and thus enter new markets without additional investment. “

Result

The subscription model initiated by this household appliance manufacturer is a real success. Several filling and capping machines of this kind have been ordered, whether single or dual product.
